Event Information
JOIN US for the screening of 2021 documentary Punch 9 for Harold Washington, a film that chronicles how Harold Washington took on corruption and discrimination to become elected as Chicago's first African-American mayor in 1983 -- an election which, in part, inspired Barack Obama to move to the city. Meet other local Democrats beforehand at a casual happy hour get-together starting at 6pm at The Chancery (upstairs). And afterwards, there will be a short Q&A with the film's producer, Raymond Lambert. More: Our film this month has earned rave reviews worldwide: “The film works as an invaluable reminder of that pivotal time for those who were there — and a history lesson for those who weren’t.” – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times
