Lisa Blunt Rochester for United States Senate

Lisa Blunt Rochester’s life is a story of hope, resilience, and a dedication to expanding opportunity for everyone.

Lisa’s story, like so many Delawareans and Americans, starts with hope.

Bright Hope Church is where Lisa’s grandmother worshipped for decades, a spiritual home for Lisa’s family that instilled them with hope and resilience.

Meet Lisa

Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Delaware in 2016, becoming the first woman and the first person of color to represent the First State in Congress. Prior to entering Congress, she had a distinguished career in public service and state government – beginning as an intern in the office of then-Congressman Tom Carper and working her way up to be Secretary of Labor and later Director of State Personnel. After leaving state government, she became the CEO of the Metropolitan Urban League in Wilmington.

In Congress, Blunt Rochester sits on the Energy & Commerce Committee. She also served as
National Co-Chair of the 2020 Biden/Harris campaign and as one of four on President Biden’s
vice presidential selection committee during the 2020 campaign. She is again serving as a
National Co-Chair for the president’s 2024 reelection campaign.

In June 2023, Blunt Rochester announced her candidacy for the United States Senate to fill the seat vacated by Senator Tom Carper’s upcoming retirement. She entered the race with Senator Carper’s enthusiastic endorsement, and, if elected, will become the fourth Black woman in American history to serve in the U.S. Senate. In Washington has and will continue to fight for the issues that matter most to Delawareans such as

  • Jobs/economy: In Congress, Lisa helped create good jobs, lowered the price of goods including prescription drugs, and addressed supply chain shortages.
  • Clean drinking water: Lisa fought for funding that removes contaminants from drinking water
  • Health care: Lisa voted to expand access to quality, affordable health care, including funding for community health centers and expanding telehealth
  • Voting Rights: Lisa believes there are vital steps we must take to protect our democracy, including ending partisan gerrymandering, stopping the influence of money in our politics, and enshrining federal voting rights protections.
  • Reproductive Freedom: Lisa believes women should have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies. As she always says, “There is no room in our wombs for politicians.”

Meet Sarah

Sarah McBride grew up in Wilmington and has been advocating for her community for decades. She worked for former Governor Jack Markell, the late Attorney General Beau Biden, and served in the Obama-Biden White House.  Most recently, she served as the national spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ equal rights organization.

Before she was elected to the State Senate, Sarah worked as an advocate to deliver critical wins across Delaware, leading the successful effort to pass landmark non-discrimination protections in Delaware and championing legislation that protects vulnerable youth from child abuse.

Sarah McBride Crowd

Sarah McBride knows how to bring Democrats and Republicans together to make sure government treats people with respect.

As a State Senator, that meant defending seniors who have paid into Social Security and Medicare their entire lives by protecting the programs from cuts, looking out for workers who should be making enough to get by including raising the minimum wage, and caring for families who shouldn’t have to choose between a paycheck and caring for a loved one by passing paid leave. One Republican colleague even praised Sarah, saying, “She worked her butt off to make sure there was something bipartisan” in the paid leave bill that Republicans “could work with.

Republican and Democratic elected leaders across the state are supporting her for Congress because she’ll once again bring people together in D.C.

If elected to Congress, Sarah plans to continue playing a critical role in passing bold policies that make government work better for families and workers. In Washington, her priorities will include

Healthcare: In Congress, I’ll work to fix our healthcare system by expanding access, lowering insurance and prescription costs, protecting the right to abortion care, and fighting for comprehensive coverage for all.

Expanding the social safety net: I’ll work to expand and strengthen these programs just as I have done in Delaware — where I passed paid family and medical leave. In Congress, I’ll fight for paid family and medical leave and affordable child care for every family.

Protecting Social Security and Medicare: Social Security and Medicare are benefits that seniors have earned. That’s why, in Congress, I'll make sure that budgets aren’t balanced on the backs of working people.

Matt Meyer for Governor

Matt Meyer is a former public school teacher and small business owner who grew up in Delaware. In 2017, Matt was elected as New Castle County Executive, leading Delaware's largest local government.

Meet Matt

As County Executive, Matt has an unprecedented record of success delivering results for working families. From making historic investments in education, public health, and affordable housing, to reducing gun violence by nearly 50%, Matt has proven that government can still work for the people. Matt believes that Delawareans deserve real plans and real results. He is running for governor to fix our state’s education system, create more affordable housing, and expand access to high-quality healthcare. Matt lives in Wilmington with his wife, Dr. Lauren Meyer. Lauren is an emergency room physician who has worked in hospitals in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties.  Just this year, Lauren and Matt had their first child together, Levi, who loves storytime and hates diaper changes.

Kyle Evans Gay for Lieutenant Governor

Kyle is a mom, she’s an advocate, an attorney, and a State Senator. She ran for State Senate and is running for Lt Governor with a vision to build a better future for her family and yours — to advocate for our kids and families, improve seniors’ quality of life, and fight for equality and prosperity for all Delawareans.

Kyle Evans Gay

Meet Matt

In the State Senate, Kyle has prioritized bills that have made life easier for working families. She has fought for childcare that working parents can actually afford and protected voting rights for people across our state.

Kyle Evans Gay, Future is Female

She successfully supported raising the minimum wage and securing Delaware seniors’ retirements. Kyle has been a champion for reproductive justice in Delaware removing financial barriers for patients seeking healthcare, protecting healthcare providers, and serving as a founding board member of the First State Abortion Fund.

In Dover and through her work with Delaware’s abortion fund, Kyle worked closely with legislative leaders and advocates to ensure Delawareans seeking reproductive care were protected from the ramifications of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

Kyle is a mom who knows how to get things done. Not just for her family, but for yours, too. She carries with her these experiences — and those of our most vulnerable populations — through our halls of government.

Commissioner Navarro is a member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and was elected by his peers to Chair the Northeast Zone. He co-chairs the group’s National Antifraud Taskforce and the Improper Marketing of Health Plans Working Group. Additionally, Commissioner Navarro serves on many state boards such as the Delaware Health Care Commission, the State Employees Benefits Committee (SEBC), and the Plans Management Board.

During his term, Commissioner Navarro has fostered hundreds of pro-consumer policies, regulations, and legislation to fruition. Of note, Substitute 1 for HB 80 (2017) was passed and signed into law, prohibiting insurers from increasing rates on current personal insurance policyholders solely for having reached the age of 75 or above, or for having a change in marital status. It also restricts use of credit scores in setting personal premiums.

Other pro-consumer policy efforts include regulation of Pharmacy Benefit Managers, codifying the protections of the Affordable Care Act, and protecting and expanding access to reproductive health care. He brought forward some of the nation's first enactments of Annuity Suitability Act protections, and the Insurance Data Security Act. Along with mandating coverage for various healthcare needs and ensuring compliance with mental health parity and caps on insulin prices, he worked to lower health insurance costs through improving competition, enacting the state's 1332 Reinsurance Waiver, and launching the Office of Value-Based Health Care Delivery.

Commissioner Navarro has two daughters, Kylie and Hannah, and one son, Jordan. He resides in Bear, DE with his wife Melissa.
